PRIMARY RESPONSE UNIT (PRU)
The Primary Response Unit forms the backbone of the Toronto Police Service, responding to 911 emergencies and other non-emergency calls for service.
Primary Response Unit (PRU) Officers range in rank from Police Constable to Staff Sergeant and maintain the primary uniform function of the Toronto Police Service. They operate in marked police vehicles, responding to 911 emergencies and other non-emergency calls for the service. Officers from the 22 Division Primary Response Unit may sometimes be asked to respond to calls in other divisions, depending on the level of demand and the urgency of the situation.
